Doublewide Cityside is a dramatic live stage performance and dinner theatre about a West Virginia family and that which divides them from one another and that which brings them together.
There's Pappy - the 85 y/o retired miner whose own family migrated from England. Pappy lives with Belle and Frank and their daughter Jenny-Ann - who's got a crush on Henry. His dad is in prison, but about to get out and wants to set things straight. The in-laws - John Jakes and Marty, with her two girls - are eeking out a hard life in Baltimore, having thought they'd "move-up" to be city folks. Everyone's returning to WV for Pappy's 85th b'day, and everyone wants to make a good impression. And, Aunt Agnes and Lillie-Ann will make sure they're at church beforehand. Trouble stirs when Henry decides he's going to bail-out from the football team just a week before the championship game. Meanwhile, Jenny-Ann has surprise for Henry, and Pappy learns his welcomed stay with Frank and Belle is less than genuine. All that matters seems to resolve in the final act at Pappy's birthday party- where the audience may share in the festivity.
